How does Roku 2 XS work?

The Roku 2 XS is a small device, which was easy to connect to your TV. All you need to get started is a TV and an Internet connection. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and saw how small the device was. It’s no bigger than the palm of my hand.

Installation was easy just like the Roku XDS Streaming Player 1080p except it took about 10-15 min to update to the latest software and the download of the Angry Birds game and then syncing the remote. Just connect the box to your existing Internet connection using Ethernet or wi-fi, and plug an HDMI cable from the back of the unit into the TV. This is video streamer I truly think a non-tech person could setup and use out of the box.

The Roku 2 no longer supports dual band Wireless N, it only works in the 2.4 Ghz range.

Storage Expansion

Roku xs comes with microsd card slot to increase device memory for additional game and channel storage. In addition, it’s the only model with USB support. This will allow you to connect usb hard drive and play ripped movies from your DVD’s.

Yesterday (July 20, 2011) Roku.com introduced a new line of streaming players called Roku 2. A brend new Roku family is available in three models – the Roku 2 HD, Roku 2 XD and Roku 2 XS (a newer model of Roku’s bestseller roku xds streaming player 1080p). Roku 2 streaming players feature a sleek new design with energy efficiency, using less than 2W of power and brings popular games to the TV (Angry Birds comes for free with the top of the line XS model).
